Le Frenchy du week-end: Henry marche sur l'eau
Certes, l’opposition était faible. Voire très faible. Mais cela n’enlève rien, ou presque, à la prestation fournie par Thierry Henry face au Toronto FC (4-1, voir la vidéo), dans la nuit de samedi à dimanche. Sous son impulsion, les New York Red Bulls sont parvenus à renverser le cours d’une rencontre mal embarquée, surtout après l’ouverture du score de Ryan Johnson (6e), titulaire à la pointe de l’attaque en l’absence d’Eric Hassli, blessé. Le capitaine de la franchise du New Jersey a délivré trois passes décisives (une pour Holgersson, deux pour Cooper) avant de ponctuer sa prestation d’un superbe but, dont l’ancien Gunner a le secret, pour porter son total à 12 passes décisives et 14 buts en 22 matches de MLS cette saison. "Magic Man", comme le surnommait le site officiel de la MLS après la rencontre, permet ainsi aux siens de reprendre la 2e place à l’est au Chicago Fire et de rester dans la roue du Sporting Kansas City. Sans Aurélien Collin, au repos, la franchise du Missouri a tout de même dominé celle de l’Illinois (2-0, voir la vidéo), confortant ainsi son leadership et assurant surtout sa place en playoffs pour la deuxième année de suite. Les autres Frenchies: Hoppenot et Imbongo gagnent du temps de jeu
Une place qui est désormais inatteignable pour l’Impact de Montréal d’Hassoun Camara, qui n’a pas joué ce week-end et se trouve désormais relégué à neuf longueurs du premier qualifié virtuel, le Houston Dynamo. Il ne devrait donc n’y avoir que les New Yorkais Thierry Henry, Sébastien Le Toux – absent contre Toronto – et Aurélin Collin (KC) en playoffs côté français. Les autres bénéficieront de congés prolongés. Mais en attendant, à l’exception de Laurent Courtois, encore absent de la feuille de match lors de la défaite des Chivas USA face au Real Salt Lake (0-4, voir la vidéo), ils jouent. A l’instar des jeunes Antoine Hoppenot et Dimitry Imbongo. Le premier est rentré à une demi-heure du terme de la rencontre entre le Philadelphie Union et le Columbus Crew (3-2, voir la vidéo), tandis que le second était titulaire lors de la défaite du New England Revolution au Houston Dynamo (2-0, voir la vidéo), avant de céder sa place à la 78e minute.
